The Day After the Nor’Easter

Well it was pretty cold when I woke up this morning and it was 0 degrees on our outdoor thermometer. I checked email while our freshly ground Dunkin Donuts coffee was brewing. I could hear the wind whistling thru the trees as the sun shone through the window.

I waited for a couple of hours hoping it would warm up so I could brave the cold. I put on my ski mask, gloves and heavy coat and doubled up on the fleece shirts.

We received about another 3-4 inches of snow but it was a little crusty on top and it was heavier than I thought it would be.

Monika came out about a half hour later and helped me. She doesn’t usually shovel as she is apprehensive about slipping and breaking her already broken ankle that she broke 3 years ago. Her son Marty came out about a half hour after that and helped finished the rest of the clean up.

I have been shoveling all the storms over the last 17 years with a shovel. I can count maybe on one hand the times we have had Marty come in and plow. I remember a few years ago we had so much snow Mr. Pitman came down and pushed the snow banks back because I couldn’t throw the snow high enough.

Maybe it’s time to get a snow blower.

Well it is Valentine’s day and my wife Monika’s birthday. I have been out shoveling a couple of times and we have about 9 inches of snow on the ground already.Jay shovelong

I cooked her breakfast and made her coffee and I let her sleep in. Well, it’s not like I would have had a say in it anyway. She doesn’t need my permission to sleep in.

She’s had a lot of phone calls today wishing her a happy birthday and Valentines day to go along with a bunch of cards and email wishes.

Monika was supposed to teach a class tomorrow up at the Sunapee Board of REALTORS but we received a call early this morning canceling due to the snow storm. They are expected to receive upwards of 2 feet by the end of today. They rarely cancel classes but they didn’t think the parking lot would be plowed out in time.

Monika and I have been in town for many years and we love the town because of it’s easy access to all of the great sites we like to visit.

We are about an hour from Boston.

Portsmouth, NH is 45 minutes away east of here.
Nashua, NH is 45 minutes away as you head west on route 111.

The lakes region is about 2 aways and there are some great skiing resorts there too.

Our favorite place to relax in is Maine and we can be to some of our great spots in about anywhere in an hour to 5 hours max.
